Whats the difference between RIP-70? And RIP 90?

The 70 series is designed to fit perfectly in 70mm stud walls. This size timber is used mainly in Queensland.

The 90 series is the equivalent for 90mm stud wall and is the preferred thickness timber most common to NSW and VICTORIA.

Do I Still need to waterproof?

The unit itself is already waterproofed. But the where the side of the niche meets the cut perimeter, this join requires a silicone bead and a waterproof membrane applied over.

It will not hurt applying another membrane over our coating.

What type of silicone do I need?

Nearly all Bathroom silicones are compatible.

Does it work with external or cavity brick walls?

Designed primarily to suit internal walls. Our niches can also be used in the above situations. Because the back of our units are designed to be adhered to a board of some sort a back has to be created for correct installation.

In a external stud wall situation the best solution is to use a piece of plywood that has been adhered / mechanically fixed to the rear of the stud frame. Our shower recesses can now be stuck to this plywood as it is now acting as the opposing plasterboard wall like is found in an internal wall situation.

Cavity brick walls require a different treatment. Once again a back has to be created either at 90mm or 70mm from the face of the brickwork. This is easiest done by liquid nailing in some 50mm x 100mm x 20mm timber blocks on each edge of the cavity. Depending on the thickness of the the ply wood or plasterboard used. The plywood or plasterboard can now be cut to suit this cavity then siliconed into place using the timber blocks as the adhering point.

Once this is done, installation can be completed as per our VIDEO instructions.
